CEYD Dili Nedir?

Komut, CEYD-A uygulamasının soru cevap yapısını belirleyen tanımdır. Komutlar, hem
CEYD-A içerisinde Menü->Hesaplar->CEYD-A

Boş bırakılırsa her şablona uygun anlamına gelir. Kullanılması daha zengin komutlar oluşturulması için idealdir.
Regex tanımlarına ek olarak,
{BAŞ}
.*? regex ifadesi ile eşdeğerdir. Herhangi bir söz dizimidir. Olabilir veya olmayabilir. Cümlenin başında sizin konuya odaklanmayacağınız kelimeleri ifade eder.
({HER1})

Regex’in diğer tüm yazılım formatı burada desteklenmektedir.
Örnek:
{BAŞ}({KELİME1}){NİN EKİ} maçı{SON}
şablonu CEYD-A, FENERBAHÇENİN MAÇI NE ZAMAN? cümlesi ile örtüşmektedir.

RET, IF, SET, GET,EVAL, FOR fonksiyonları

  • RET fonksiyonu tanımlı bir komutun sonucunu döndürür.
  • IF fonksiyonu iki değeri karşılaştırır ve mantıksal sonuca göre değer döndürür
  • SET fonksiyonu bir değişkene değer atar. Bu değer uygulama kapalı olsa bile hafızada tutulur.
  • GET fonksiyonu değişken değerini döndürür.
  • EVAL fonksiyonu matematiksel işlem yapıp değerini döndürür
  • FOR döngüsü, içinde tanımlanan fonksiyonların döngü koşulu içerisinde tekrarlanarak çağrılmasını sağlar.

Hava {!SET derece={!RET hava kaç derece!}!} derece.
{!FOR $i=0,9 {!SET $i+=1!}{!GET $i!}.sıra
!} Bitti.

RET fonksiyonu hazır bir komutu çalıştırıp değerini döndürdüğünden, CEYD-A, hali hazırdaki komut yapısından amerikan doları dendiğinde 5.27 değerini döndürürecektir.

Daha komplike bir örnek ise, Kartal a nasıl giderim dediğinizde Kartal nerede komutunun çalışmasını istiyorsanız, soru şablonuna;

({HERHANGİ1}) nasıl giderim

Soru kelimelerine;

nasıl giderim

NEREDE komutu hali hazırda olduğu için komuta yönlendir bölümüne;

{HERHANGİ1} nerede

yazmanız yeterli olacaktır. $1, parantezli ilk gruptur {HERHANGİ1} olarak tanımlanan kısımdır.

NASIL KOMUT YAZILIR ?

Thanks

Thanks to Gail Giacobbe, am exposed to Dan Olsen’s work on Lean Product Playbook: How to Innovate with Minimum Viable Products and Rapid Customer Feedback. The book is available here. It presents a clear framework.

Nuggets:

The process to achieve product-market fit

The builds the intuition for the lean product process. Do have the question of whether we start with underserved needs or target customer since customer portraits are fundamentally humans with needs to different degree. For instance, everyone has the need of transporting from one place to another but with different demand on the time needed to access the vehicle will result in “uber customer” and “customer who owns a private car”.

Market ( problem space ) vs Product (solution space )

【why, not start with the solution space 】here is an example from the book “when NASA was preparing to send astronauts into space, they knew that ballpoint pens would not work because they rely on gravity in order for the ink to flow. One of NASA’s contractors, Fisher Pen Company, decided to pursue a research and development program to create a pen that would work in the zero gravity of space. After spending $1 million of his own money, the company’s president, Paul Fisher, invented the Space Pen in 1965: a wonderful piece of technology that works great in zero gravity.”

【why start with the problem space】

“Faced with the same challenge, the Russian space agency equipped their astronauts with pencils. You can actually buy a “Russian space pen” (which is just a cleverly packaged red pencil). This story shows the risk of jumping into the solution space prematurely and the advantage of starting in the problem space.”

Human needs stay the same.

When new technology is developed, users/buyers segments adopt the new tech in the following way.

The top needs don’t matter if the bottom needs haven’t been met yet.

Persona Attributes:

  • Name
  • Representative photograph
  • Quote that conveys what they most care about
  • Job title
  • Demographics
  • Needs/goals
  • Relevant motivations and attitudes
  • Related tasks and behaviors
  • Frustrations/pain points with current solution Level of expertise/knowledge (in the relevant domain, e.g., level of computer savvy)
  • Product usage context/environment (e.g., laptop in a loud, busy office or tablet on the couch at home)
  • Technology adoption life cycle segment (for your product category) Any other salient attributes

e.g

How painful is the need ( problem ), how frequent it happens

need to identify the underserved needs: needs that aren’t yet filled.

GAP = importance — satisfaction

Opportunity Score = importance + MAX ( importance (pain intensity * how frequent the pain occurs) — satisfaction , 0 )

Opportunity Value Delivered = Importance * Satisfaction

Opportunity to Add Value = Imporatnce * ( 1- satisfaction )

Opportunity to Add Value to exsiting product = Importance * ( satisfaction-before minus satisfaction-after)

e.g

Token Economy. The change is here

Part A.

George Karamanolis, Co-Founder & CTO/CIO, Crowdpolicy https://www.linkedin.com/in/karamanolis

Technology has radically changed many traditional sectors

Examples: the platform tripadvisor for holiday and tourism, Alibaba, ebay and amazon for trade, itunes for music, netflix for entertainment, Facebook for all the previous and the content production model, #fintech and #insurtech for financial and insurance services respectively, and crowdfunding as a process and methodology of fundraising.

We are also witnessing another transformation. The democratization of goods and participation are more dominant, stakeholders are engaged most of the times with fewer or no intermediaries at all in service transactions.

“Internet of Value” and traditional goods

The natural (and digital) world is characterized by transactions in goods and services. The goods are either tangible or intangible.

Let’s look at some examples of goods: light, water, services, shares, real estate, works of art, music, etc. Many of these transactions are based on contracts, money transfer through conventional channels, and complex agreements.

Most of these goods cannot be divided into smaller segments, be liquidated, provide profits and benefits to their owners and they are difficult to transfer. There are simpler goods (e.g. music, supermarket reward points, vouchers) that lose their value or do not give potential to the relationship of consumers with the organizations that produce those goods.

What led to the new change

Blockchain technology became widely known through the use of bitcoin. It can be described as a “book” to which anyone or a specific group of users has access in order to “read and write”. It can also be described as an accounting record (general ledger) in which every transaction is recorded, e.g. purchase, sale or transfer. For example, all the records related to the transactions are presented in the transactions of crypto-currencies. Depending on the use scenario, there are several types of blockchain and decentralized ‘Ledgers’ (DLTs) technologies: a) Open blockchain which allows everyone, according to their contribution, to read and write in this book, b) Enterprise blockchain or DLTs (Distribuled Ledger Technologies). These technologies can be used by organizations to simplify and support processes such as monitoring the supply chain from the beginning of the manufacture of a product and raw materials, and c) Hybrid: some of their parts are available, some are not.

The new asset management model is affected by blockchain / DLT technologies in market segments that do not necessarily relate to banking environments.

We have two main cases:

1. Crypto / alternative currencies based on blockchain technologies

2. The use of blockchain technology in a number of cases in sectors of the Economy as infrastructure

A key component of blockchain technology is tokens.

The token as the structural component of a trillion euro digital economy market

The token can be described as a digital asset. It is a key that uniquely certifies that the person who owns it is also the owner of a value. Tokens can be supported / assigned to tangible assets that can be used by their owners or consumed against a service product or platform. They can be used as internal units for the purchase of goods / services within a system. A token can be represented in all of the above blockchain types and can be used / available through a suitable market place.

Participation in such a process involves the purchase of tokens using a fiat currency (e.g. euro) or a compatible cryptocurrency (e.g. bitcoin, ethereum). It may be a unit of value that corresponds to a tangible asset. Tokens are available on a distributed blockchain base in order to enable transparency, transaction authentication and monitoring by the community of users or any interested party. To achieve all this, standards are followed, where applicable, to provide exchangeability or interoperability characteristics. The most common technical standard is ERC 20 of the platform ethereum.

For example, a token may represent a digital currency, square meters of a property, 1% of an expensive painting, etc. The application of tokens to economy sectors expands the ability of financing and supporting assets that are not marketable and their owners. It also provides flexibility to acquiring them, since an investor or supporter can buy a small fraction of the asset and then exchange it.

You can also read:

  • Tokens — a gentle intoduction
  • Vitalik Buterin on Public and private blockchains

An asset that turns into…token(s)

The conversion of a digital asset into a token is said to resemble the classic process and the rationale of issuing securities with a technological differentiation of the process.

However, the differences are significant (Technological escalation due to the nature of the technology, massive participation and transactions, etc.).

The following examples of tangible or intangible assets could be represented as tokens:

  • Using tokens can run a decentralized p2p crowdfunding ICO (Initial coin offering) process. Read more on investopedia and wikipedia
  • Use as an alternative — digital currency for domestic — extended transaction networks (e.g., suppliers, customers etc.)
  • Points — loyalty — vouchers — tickets
  • Every transaction — service contract
  • Shares (a share or a fraction of a share)
  • Square meters of a property
  • Property share in a photovoltaic park
  • Patents, Intellectual Property
  • Transfer of ownership or rights
  • 10% of an expensive collection of works of art
  • Daily or hourly use of a car
  • Software — discount vouchers
  • API keys for access to platforms by developers and development of value-added services.

Value for organizations

There are plenty of reasons why the use of tokens can transform traditional sectors of economy:

  • Powerful brands have the potential to REALLY get consumers involved and enhance business processes by receiving funding
  • Start ups or established companies can fund the implementation of a business plan related to its performance
  • Conversion of traditional assets into liquid, exchangeable and tradable assets.
  • Transparency in transactions — accountability
  • Minimising bureaucracy

We are gradually moving from mediation platforms and centralized marketplaces to decentralized value exchange networks based on digital representations of real-world assets and the use of digital representations in the form of tokens and blockchain technology.

All of this is interesting in many ways..

  • Big vendors are engaged in technology and provide enterprise solutions and platforms for the development of services based on blockchain (e.g. IMB — Microsoft).
  • There are a few examples in public sector, e.g. Ukraine and the auctions https://cointelegraph.com/news/ukraine-to-auction-seized-assets-through-blockchain-showing-it-fights-corruption and http://www.smartdubai.ae/dubai_blockchain.php
  • Well-known platforms utilize blockchain technology https://www.forbes.com/sites/jwebb/2017/08/31/alibaba-ey-ibm-and-microsoft-use-the-blockchain-to-create-a-transparent-supply-chain/#381d1b3e4b37
  • Cryptocurrencies (see Coinmarket Cap)
  • Quorum, JP Morgan open source blockchain based on ethereum https://www.jpmorgan.com/global/Quorum

Challenges

All of the above, as well as the transition to the “economy of tokens”, result in institutional, legal, operational and technological challenges as well as questions regarding the correct use of tokens and their owners’ awareness.

It requires the use of appropriate infrastructure and combined know-how (legal, economic and certainly technological..).

We are open to such cooperation and we implement related platforms and initiatives:

  • We believe in the dissemination of blockchain / DLTs technology and the added value it will have for public and private sector bodies and organizations. It is the subject of all innovation actions crowdhackathon.com. Briefly, through the process of crowdhackathon we have encouraged the development of applications based on blockchain technologies, e.g. insurance and contracts, smart cities and charge for water consumption.
  • We have provided mentoring support to startups wishing to enter this field by providing value-added services.
  • We implement block chain based services as part of the digital transformation strategy for large organizations.

.. There is more to be announced shortly!

Funding the Frog Squad

What you need to know about the so-called alt-right’s financial ecosystem.

Screenshot from Wesearchr

Last year, Oculus Rift founder Palmer Luckey made headlines for donating $10,000 a pro-Trump 501(c)4 dedicated to creating and circulating shitposting memes about Hillary Clinton. The backlash in the media and Silicon Valley was immediate. Personally, I wondered why people were so surprised. The right has long found ways to fund their shit-stirrers, and both the volume and consistency of content that the frogs were producing at the time suggested to me that it was being funded. Palmer Luckey wasn’t the only rich guy giving money to reddit randos. He was just the rich guy who got caught.

Nearly a year later, we know a lot more about how the Frog Squad is funded. The most famous backers are the Mercer family. who have invested or donated in pretty much all of the so-called alt-right’s infrastructure: Breitbart, Donald Trump, Cambridge Analytica, and Milo to name a few. But the frogs have quite the grassroots fundraising arm too.

The so-called alt-right’s crowdfunding game is strong. And since their hateful rhetoric is now getting them banned from PayPal, GoFundMe, and Patreon, a few alternatives have sprung up including Wesearchr, Hatreon, and Rootbocks. Gizmodo has a roundup of the various sites available to aspiring frogs. Inc. Magazine covered it recently as well. There are a lot more crowdfunding alternatives than I realized, and I follow this stuff pretty closely! Even with the recent issues, traditional crowdfunding sites still help the other side crowdfund. This week, Mike Cernovich, who was funding a documentary on Kickstarter, finished his campaign with $163,000 raised from just over 1,700 backers!

Finally, we have to talk about the grift. Anyone who’s ever signed up for a Republican email list or had their name and address on a right wing mailing list is familiar with this already. Republican donor lists are a cash cow. Campaigns and political organizations sell them to other candidates and party committees but also to sell products galore. Recent examples from my own inbox include: gold, guns, and Christian comic books. The spoils of campaign fundraising lists are so well known that Herman Cain’s 2012 presidential campaign made little effort to hide that they were a shell operation for Herman Cain Inc. Longtime right wing grifter Ben Carson, also wouldn’t deny his own 2016 campaign was a scam. And as Amanda Marcotte pointed out last year, the right wing celebrity game is a lucrative business.

The frogs have taken grifting to a whole new level though. John Oliver devoted 20 minutes of his show last Sunday to Alex Jones’ extensive line of products, stuff tailor-made for his conspiracy theory-loving audience. Trump’s campaign email vendors also recently used Seth Rich conspiracies to hawk face cream.

Funding the Frog Squad is now an industry of its own. There’s nothing inherently wrong with seeking funders for your work or crowdfunding from your followers (speaking of which, have you backed Factual Democracy Project yet? I’m a tad envious of Cernovich’s haul.) but it’s important to recognize that the frogs have a diversified funding structure from billionaires down to $1 donors. That’s without even getting into money from foreign actors as well, especially Russia. The former is easily mapped, the latter I hope we’ll learn more about as the various investigations play out, especially Mueller’s.

Today marks the halfway point for the Factual Democracy Project Kickstarter Campaign. Per your feedback, I’ve added a single ticket option. You can now back the project for $25 and receive admission to one backers call of your choice. There are just 15 days left to fund this series. Can I count on you to back my project before the deadline?

I can’t make this happen without your support. We have just two weeks to fund these calls and every dollar helps. Learn more and become a backer on my Kickstarter campaign page.

BACK to the DATA in…Supply Chain

When should you hire a CFO?

Jason M. Lemkin recently posted a tweetstorm about his observation that most startups are bad at finance. As you’d expect from Jason, he didn’t try to sugarcoat things:

In a funny coincidence, one of our portfolio CEOs wrote me an email with the subject “Should we be hiring a CFO?” just one or two days before Jason unleashed his tweetstorm. It seems like while there’s been a lot of discussion in the SaaS community about the right time to bring on a VP of Sales or VP of Marketing (with the best advice coming from Jason himself¹), the finance department hasn’t attracted as much attention yet. Therefore, I thought it might be helpful for other founders if I publish my email reply to the CEO here:

Hi XXXXX,

A couple of thoughts:

1) I think a good CFO will:

– take everything in regards to bookkeeping, accounting, and tax off your shoulders
– be able to take further operational duties off your shoulders
– help you with financial modeling and budgeting (i.e. he/she will create the model/plan based on your input, adjust/fine-tune it based on your input, and will be able to create monthly actuals vs. budget and a rolling forecast).

2) I think a great CFO will, in addition to that:

– be a true “business partner“ (like a co-founder with the finance hat) who can act as a sparring partner for all kinds of business decisions, e.g. when it comes to assessing a partnering opportunity
– be focused on driving revenue, so he/she will help us generate more revenue e.g. by working on pricing
– ask the right „strategic“ questions (for example, I would expect him/her to independently challenge you in regards to the profitability of different customer segments)
– improve cash management (e.g. in regards to payment terms, accounts receivables, FX,…)
– fully own financial modeling/budgeting (obviously with input and guidance from you and others)
– own the data room for the next financing round and play an important role in the fundraising process
– have experience with M&A and various financing instruments

3) I think with the exception of M&A experience, all of these are skills/assets which, at XXXX’s stage, we should have in the not too distant future. When we’re at $5–10M in ARR or so, a great CFO might almost pay for him/herself by helping us tweak and optimize the business (in addition to freeing up your time).

Happy to talk to the candidate(s)!

I’m also adding Ola in case she has any additional input.

Best regards

Christoph

Let me also add what Ola, our Operating Partner, had to add:

Hi XXXXX,

I second everything Christoph mentioned. From my own experience of joining the finance department of a startup in year 10 with ca. EUR 500M in group revenue with 10+ subsidiaries where everything was still based mainly on Excel and a basic accounting software with huge amounts of manual work, where it was almost impossible to implement any technical project like ERP or CRM and tax audits were dragging out for ages and proved to be very challenging, I believe it is almost never too soon to hire a senior finance person to set the scene for scaling in a professional way (and saving FTEs due to automation and smart set-up).

Not sure what your subsidiary structure etc. is but an experienced finance person can play a vital role in internationalisation as well. Contract reviews with big clients, compliance matters, any type of changes of law, tax audits, dealing with advisors, etc. are usually also things such a person could take care of instead of the founders.

I would be very happy to interview XXXXX as well (and to drill him a bit on the technical, hardcore finance stuff) if you think this would help to make up your mind (have done it for several of our portfolio companies before).

Best regards

Ola

In this case, our recommendation was pretty clear, but the company is close to $5 million in ARR and can afford a great finance leader. What about SaaS startups that are at a much earlier stage and haven’t raised a few million dollars yet? If there’s a trade-off between hiring a CFO and, say, a marketing leader or 1–2 developers, most founders will understandably go for the latter. So, when is the right time to hire a CFO? There is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question, as the right timing depends on a couple of factors, including how much capital you’ve raised, how fast you’re growing, and if one of the founders has prior experience with or a talent for financials. Let’s take a closer look at how the “finance department” of a typical SaaS company might develop over time.

Pre-revenue

Aaron Patzer, the founder of Mint, once said: “When valuing a startup, add $500k for every engineer, and subtract $250k for every MBA”. While I don’t agree with this sentiment in general (and I don’t know if Aaron was serious), it’s true that in the very beginning you need people who can build stuff, i.e. mostly engineers and designers. Almost everything else can wait until you’re closer to launch. Before you start to commercialize your product, your company’s finances are usually very simple and can be handled by one of the founders, with accounting and payroll typically being outsourced to one or more external service providers.²

~ $1 million ARR

You’re live, you have the first paying customers, you may have raised a small seed round already, and slowly but surely, you’re generating more and more revenue. It begins to feel like you’re on to something, and you’re starting to think about raising more money to accelerate product development and customer acquisition. At this stage, the workload, as well as the complexity, with respect to the company’s finances increases quickly. Some time around the $0.5–1.5 million ARR stage you’ll want to hire a finance person who can take everything in regards to accounting off your shoulders and who will help you with financial planning and budgeting as well as your accounts receivables.

That person will also help you get better at tracking your business performance over time and will professionalize your finance tools and processes, which will become increasingly important as you move to the next stage. The finance person that you’ll hire at this stage is not going to be an experienced VP Finance or CFO, though, so expect that although he or she will be able to help you with e.g. financial planning and an investor presentation, you’ll play the key role in putting together the plan that you’re going to present to prospective Series A investors.³

~ $3–5 million ARR

As you’re approaching $3–5 million in ARR, it’s time to bring in an experienced finance person — unless the one you’ve hired at around $1M in ARR is learning so fast that he or she can be that person. With a few million dollars in ARR, improvements to how you manage working capital, credit controls, payments, various currencies, etc. will start to have a bigger impact because you’re starting to deal with larger amounts of money. At the same time, controlling expenses will become much more complicated, especially if you’re doubling your team size year-over-year; you might open a second or third office in another location and might have a subsidiary in another country, which means you may have to deal with topics like payroll and employee benefits in other countries and transfer pricing between your company and its subsidiary; and you’ll have to deal with ESOP pricing, auditors, and much more.

At this stage, you will hugely benefit from somebody who can do most of the things I’ve mentioned under “a great CFO will…” in my email above. That doesn’t mean that your finance leader must have been a CFO before or that you should give him or her the CFO title — making him or her a Director or VP might work, too. In fact, if you hire someone who has been a CFO already you’ll have to make sure that he or she doesn’t expect a job that is primarily about managing people. Your finance department will still be quite small at this stage — probably 2–4 people, so you need someone who isn’t too senior for hands-on work.

One more point: A few of our portfolio companies have hired a seasoned part-time CFO at a few million dollars in ARR, which allowed them to punch above their weight in terms of experience of the candidate and to delay the hiring of a full-time CFO (or VP Finance) until around $10 million in ARR. This can work, but the caveat is that with a part-time CFO you will most likely not get what I described as a “true business partner” in my email above — a “late co-founder” who is extremely strong commercially, acts almost like a founder, and, as one of our portfolio CEOs put it, is “an additional trusted voice that knows which questions to ask that we may not have thought of”.

$20–25M+ ARR and beyond

The finance leader who you’ve hired at around $3–5 million ARR will hopefully be the right finance leader to get you to around $20–25 million in ARR but that doesn’t mean that he or she has the experience and skills to be your CFO as you grow to $100 million in ARR and potentially become a public company. During that part of the journey, you’ll want a finance superstar with lots of experience in M&A deals, equity and debt financings, and maybe even taking companies public. I’ll stop here, though, because if you’re reading this, chances are that there’s nothing you care less about right now than whether your $20–25M ARR CFO will scale all the way up to $100M. 😉 As with all manager that you hire, optimize for the next 2–3 years. If he or she continues to be the right person for the job beyond that, you’re lucky. But if you optimize for it at the get-go, there’s a high chance that you’ll hire the wrong person. There may not be 48 different types of CFOs — but there are certainly a few!

The New York Times needed info. Then they needed a scapegoat.

Driven insane by unjust captivity, I have unexpectedly emerged to exact revenge against the wicked and mediocre

In search of the elusive press apology

Barrett Brown

I suppose you remember me from 2011?

I was with Anonymous, and you came to me for info on OpCartel.

Then you ran an article stating the kidnapping as fact, which, as is now better established, it actually was.

At the time, I wrote to you, regarding the question of whether such a thing should be reported as fact, “Obviously if I were functioning as a journalist, that wouldn’t be sufficient.”

Barrett Brown
Later you expressed regret on Twitter that you’d reported it as fact.

Barrett Brown
A few days after that you wrote another article with Ravi in which you note that there’s been contradictory information about all this, etc, and it’s all quite a mystery, though you never get around to stating that you yourself reported it as fact, and did so after talking to some of the same people I did, whom I’d directed you to.

Barrett Brown
Then, based on ideas you note to have seen on Twitter, you claim me to be the “self-appointed Anonymous spokesman”, which is not actually a fact, as I’d noted for months and months, in magazine articles and TV interviews, etc; and suggest that my “book contract to write about Anonymous” is relevant to my attempt to do something with whatever materials I could get from the Mexican Anons.

Barrett Brown
Technically I did have that contract, but it was to serve as co-writer on a book about Gregg Housh, the guy who originally asked me to help deal with the press, and his own life and history with Anonymous, as could have been determined rather easily from the book announcements and articles from other reporters who actually did manage to determine that. And that might well have made it clear that I obviously had little to gain in that instance from things I did myself.

Also, this passage: “Why, some might wonder, would Mr. Brown, presumably a real person using his a real name, go public with this information, given the risk?” … seems to imply that you’re not entirely certain that I’m a real person with a real name, even though I was, at that time, a journalist who’d written for a large number of publications, in addition to the work I was doing for free, like trying to get NYT to pay closer attention to Palantir and Archimedes and other firms I’d been researching which later went on to undermine the 2016 election.

Anyway, I went to prison, got out, and found that Adrian Chen was somehow now writing about these same subjects.

Barrett Brown

Despite this:

[Link to 2014 piece on Adrian Chen showing his attempts to buy stolen emails from hackers, whom he’d later criticize without noting this]

Barrett Brown

Anyway, I hope you’ll try to be more careful in the future. Also if there’s someone at The New York Times who might be interested in a heads-up, I’ve found several demonstrable errors in his work — aside the half-dozen articles he wrote about me, some of which he admitted not to believe in a recording I’ve made public — and I’m in talks with The New Yorker today to give them a chance to do an internal review of his work for them, since I’m writing at length about it in my upcoming book from FSG.

5:37 PM [redacted]: Ha — I can understand your frustration, but the NYT’s news sense and yours will not always align.

October 2011 — The Original Exchange

  1. [redacted]: Hey , hope you’re well.
  2. me: indeed
  3. [redacted]: Just wondering if this Mexico thing today is bullshit. Have you heard anything?
  4. me: it’s not at all bullshit
  5. 5:19 PM [redacted]: I mean the rumour that a woman has been released by the Zetas.
  6. me: I don’t know about it being a woman, necessarily, but the release did apparently occur, but not in response to the op; the person was not known by the Zetas to be the Anon
  7. 5:20 PM This person can tell you more
  8. [e-mail redacted]
  9. I’m not sure what other details I can give out at this point
  10. [redacted]: Who is that person?
  11. The email address, I mean
  12. 5:21 PM me: a Mexican Anon whom I’ve been working with on this
  13. [description redacted]
  14. 5:22 PM [redacted]: Can you tell me, off the record, any details about the person who was taken? I’m not going to publish even the hint of a detail, as I don’t want to endanger a life. But it would help in researching.
  15. me: and perhaps more as other informants come to me as a result of the media coverage
  16. I cannot, you’ll have to ask this Mexican Anon
  17. 5:23 PM [redacted]: What evidence have you seen that the kidnap really happened?
  18. 5:24 PM me: None, nor would I have expected to as we have no intention of providing a chance that the person could be identified
  19. however, this other person might be able to tell you more.
  20. [redacted]: But if the person couldn’t be identified, how could the Zetas respond to the threat?
  21. 5:25 PM me: These Anons assumed that the Zetas knew who it was
  22. But obviously they had no way of knowing the exact situation
  23. 5:27 PM [redacted]: So, just to clarify: an Anon was taken by the Zetas. The video was released, then the Anon was released, but because the Anon was never identified it is not clear if it is linked to the op.
  24. me: That’s basically it, yes. But you really should check with [redacted]
  25. 5:28 PM [redacted]: I definitely will, thanks for the email address.
  26. me: no problem
  27. [redacted]: I’m going to ask a stupid question.
  28. If no one has any evidence a person was kidnapped, how do you know a person was kidnapped?
  29. 5:29 PM me: I’m relying on the account of someone I’ve known and worked with in the past and whom I believe to be telling the truth based on the nature of her responses as well as other details I can’t go into due to the present situation
  30. 5:30 PM Obviously if I were functioning as a journalist, that wouldn’t be sufficient. But in this case…
  31. 5:31 PM We already have journalists looking too fucking closely into who the person is, including a review of Mexican records, and as such we’re very reluctant to assist them in finding out more.
  32. [redacted]: But a responsible journalist won’t run the name.
  33. So what difference does it make?
  34. 5:32 PM me: If you take a few minutes to think about the process by which such a name would come up and the nature of the situation in Mexico, and concede that mistakes occur in journalism, you can probably guess.
  35. [redacted]: True.
  36. 5:33 PM me: Again, this would be of greater concern to me if the U.S. media bothered to pay attention to those larger issues on which I have already produced evidence.
  37. As it is, we don’t really need the trust of the media insomuch as that most of our operations are fait accompli when reported
  38. 5:34 PM So, we are confronted with the decision between risking someone’s life and proving that a person exists to reporters with whom we already have an ambivalent relationship
  39. [redacted]: I can see your argument.
  40. 5:35 PM But if you take me, for example, I don’t think I’ve ever done anything that might make you think I’m not trustworthy with sensitive information.
  41. me: At any rate, even I have few details on this, so even if I wanted to — and of course I’d be happy to have this confirmed rather than have my outlets deem me untrustworthy — there’s nothing I could do.
  42. 5:36 PM No, you’re the exact opposite.
  43. The Times can be trusted to withhold even information that is of public concern.
  44. 5:37 PM [redacted]: Ha — I can understand your frustration, but the NYT’s news sense and yours will not always align.
  45. me: That’s true.
  46. [redacted]: But sometimes it will, obviously.
  47. 5:38 PM me: But again, I have few details to provide anyway, so I don’t want to waste your time on that particular issue.
  48. 5:39 PM [redacted]: Fair enough. Any details whatsoever — however minor — would be appreciated if you are so minded.
  49. me: Nothing more I can say about the kidnapping victim. I suggest you talk to [redacted] about it.

[Note: Despite consistent explanations to the Times and other outlets that no one was in a position to confirm the kidnappings, they were reported as fact by the paper — a decision the reporter later expressed regret for on his Twitter account, thereby helping to spawn a narrative to the effect that the original claims were now somehow under dispute. They were later claimed to be a hoax by at least one outlet, Gawker. Months later, Anonymous Veracruz participants would reveal to the Mexican press why they were initially reluctant to provide identifying details about the kidnap victim, who had spoken via webcam with several prominent activists after being released — that he had been involved in selling marijuana and his kidnapping stemmed from a dispute with a “minor” Zeta operative]

https://www.jqwidgets.com/angular/

Are children more prone to Scoliosis?

Scoliosis is the sideways curvature of the spine. It can cause problems in the growth of the individual. So, it is important to get it treated as early as possible as it might cause complication in the functioning of the heart and the lungs.

Scoliosis is the other disease of the bone or especially the spine. It is generally found in childhood but the treatment may be lifelong. This is most common causes due to problems in the spine. But what is actually Scoliosis? Read more to know about it.

Scoliosis Surgery

Scoliosis:

Scoliosis is defined as the sideways curvature of the spine. This occurs mostly after the spur growth, especially after puberty. It can be caused by conditions like cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Most of the Scoliosis are mild but in some cases, they continue to grow along with the age of the children. Severe scoliosis will make the condition worse. This is because of the reduction in the space of the chest. This might cause the lungs to function improperly.

Symptoms of Scoliosis:

The symptoms of the disease are unique and should be given attention. Some of the symptoms are –

  • Uneven waist
  • Uneven shoulder
  • One hip higher than the other
  • One shoulder blade is more prominent than the other

If Scoliosis is in its extreme condition, then the spine may get twisted causing the ribs on one side of the body to stick out farther than the other.

Whom to consult?

Whenever you notice the above symptoms consult the paediatric orthopaedics immediately. Mild scoliosis might get unnoticed by the child and the parent as it does not cause any pain. However, the parents, teachers, and sports teammates are the first to find scoliosis in a child.

Scoliosis

Causes of Scoliosis:

According to Orthopedics, there is not a main cause of scoliosis. Most of them believe that it is due to hereditary factors. Less scoliosis may also result due to –

  • Birth defects causing the irregular growth of the bones and the spine.
  • Injuries or infections in the spinal cord.
  • Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy may also result in scoliosis.

Risk factors:

The risk factors for scoliosis mostly includes –

  • Age — The signs and the symptoms of the scoliosis are highly visible during the spur growth period. Ad this type of growth in common in puberty, children are most likely to be affected by the disease.
  • Sex — The girls have higher chances of developing the disease than the boys. However, a recent study shows that both of them can acquire mild scoliosis.
  • Family History — Hereditary problems are the most common cause of the disease. Scoliosis can run from generation to generation. But, it is not necessary that all the children having the Scoliosis might have a family history.

Complications:

Scoliosis is a deforming disease most common at the age of puberty. But apart from the pain and the deformation of the body parts, it might also lead to complications. Some of the complications are –

  • Lung and heart damage — In the case of severe scoliosis, the ribs may press against the lungs and heart. This might cause the irregular functioning of the heart and the lungs. This can cause breathing problems as well as problems related to the heart like making it harder for the heart to pump the blood.
  • Back problems — Adults having scoliosis can have chronic back pain as compared to the children.
  • Appearance — As scoliosis worsens, it can cause following appearance changes — uneven hips, a shift of the waist and trunk and prominent ribs. Indic=vidual might sometime get a notice about all these things in the body.

Therefore, scoliosis can prove highly dangerous in the case of the extremities. It is important to consult the pediatric orthopaedics on time to get rid of the problem.

PATAH HATI TAPI TAK PATAH HARAPAN

Kutipan itu dalam bahasa Inggrisnya seperti ini : “Don’t love too deeply until you’re sure that the other person loves you with the same depth. Because the depth of your love today is the depth of your wound tommorow.”

Patah hati memang meremukkan rasa, menyesakkan dada, membuat jiwa merana, harga diri terhempas bahkan terpukul hancur dan bumi serasa runtuh tiba — tiba.

Kebanyakan orang pernah mengalami patah hati.

2. Jujur dihadapan Tuhan dan berdamailah dengan hati.

Dalam Mazmur 22:15–16, pemazmur secara jujur mengakui penderitaannya. Pemazmur mengatakan bahwa segala tulangnya terlepas dari sendinya, hatinya hancur luluh seperti lilin, kekuatannya kering seperti beling. Ia merasa Tuhan meletakannya dalam debu maut.

Luka hati menyebabkan segala rasa campur aduk.

Mengampuni membuat kita bisa move on. Mengampuni membuat hati kita tak kehilangan harapan. Patah hati tapi tak patah harapan.
